Desert Dreams & Lucid Nights
During the COVID pandemic in 2021, I was longing for live events and concerts. My best friend and I threw two concerts, Desert Dreams and Lucid Nights, in remote locations in California for a crowd of 300 friends - to relive what we had missed out on.
We sourced everything just us two: artists, venue, food vendors, lighting, stage, sound, security, did our own marketing and promotion, and ticket sales.
Desert Dreams took place in April 2021, and Lucid Nights quickly followed in June of 2021. Desert Dreams was built from the ground up by us - we were out in the Mojave desert building a rough stage with our bare hands. Everyone car-camped, brought their friends; we even had a food truck in the middle of nowhere. The best part? Everyone asked us when the next one would be.
Lucid Nights was a massive step up from our fun little backyard project. We brought on the stage builders who were responsible for creating past Desert Hearts, Burning Man, and Lightning In A Bottle stages, and hired artists Lunar Plane and Justin Jay. We may have shot for the stars on this one, but we still receive the same “when is the next event?”, to this day.
Desert Dreams - April 2021
The birth of our love for events and the first time uniting with people over our shared passion of house and techno music.
We built the small stage with our bare hands, found a location in the middle of the Mojave Desert, sold 300 tickets, and danced for 12 hours straight!
Lucid Nights - June 2021
The event that tested our ability to juggle schoolwork, on-the-go problem-solving, and fumbles. Also the event that we said “screw it” and went for spectacular. We invited indie/alternative artists to start us off in the afternoon, and transitioned to house and techno DJ’s to bring us into the night, for 12 hours of non-stop music.
